H. James Meginley, Ph.D.

I have received my Associates Degree from Monmouth College, New Jersey, in 1965; Bachelor of Science from the University of Tampa, Florida, in 1969; Master in Administration and Supervision from Rollins College, Florida, in 1973; and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Southeastern (now Nova) University in Louisiana in 1984 - graduating as valedictorian of my class.

Since 1980 my professional counseling career has assisted thousands of individuals, couples and families in discarding negative self-image, dysfunctional ways of relating, and ineffective decision making. With my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, and as a Certified Dimplomate Sex Therapist, my expertise includes individual concerns, relationship problems, and a variety of human sexuality issues while serving the needs of the LBGTIQA Community.

Elizabeth O’Brien, Ph.D.

I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina with an Educational Specialist's (Ed.S) degree in Couples, Marriage and Family Counseling. Upon completing this degree, I was employed as a school based counselor in a community mental health agency working with children and their families in Elementary, Middle, High and Alternative school settings.

I obtained my doctorate in philosophy (Ph. D.) at the University of Central Florida in Counselor Education. Since moving to Chattanooga, I have continued my clinical practice with adult patients with substance abuse, addiction and psychiatric issues in a psychiatric hospital. Additionally, I have been teaching at the graduate level for a local clinical mental health counselor education program for over a decade.

I am a professional member of the American Counseling Association (aca.org), the Association for Spirituality, Ethics and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC.org) and the European- Based American Counseling Association (EB-ACA).

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I enjoy working with troubled children, teens and adults. My expertise is in assisting them to identify problems and implement alternative solutions.

Josh Hynes

My role with Alternatives Counseling Associates is to assist you with testing. As you know, testing is an important component of the therapeutic process. Your test results help to Form an Assessment, Evaluation of your Needs, and Develop an Effective Treatment Plan. Testing can also help to determine outcome successes. I am here to help you with the most accurate instruments, whether paper and pencil or computer assisted. I'll provide the resulting profiles to your clinician, as well as a copy to you. It will be my pleasure to assist you.
